Zmeyka Chetki - Polymer Editions
Our Zmeyka chetki are the newest evolution of our chetki lineup. The name means “snake” in Russian, a reference to the supple flexibility of this design. The rounded, convex bead shape allows the beads to flex against one another more easily than a traditional angular design, while at the same time increasing the grip against the fingers to keep the set in control during play. The Zmeyka beads are paired with our new Molotok (meaning “hammer”) end beads. The Molotoks throw extra weight to the ends of the set, and feature a bulked up shape with a slight shelf compared to the middle beads, which helps to keep the set from slipping out from between the fingers.
Black Ultem
Black ultem brings the same exceptional material properties as our amber ultem into a darker, more dramatic palette, and it looks and plays brilliantly in the Zmeyka form. The thick, convex beads give full expression to the material in both the muted sandblasted and polished finishes. The lightweight nature of ultem keeps the set nimble and responsive through play.
The sandblasted finish has a velvety softness that allows the beads to glide effortlessly through the fingers, with a frosted appearance that starts out somewhat grey, and deepens to a rich matte black through use. The polished finish, by contrast, has that characteristic mirror-like catch, smooth on the surface but with a subtle grip that locks the set to the fingers with satisfying resistance. Both finishes are limited in availability, so if black ultem is your thing, don't sleep on these.
Amber Ultem
Amber ultem has been one of the most popular materials we've introduced over the past few years, and both the beauty and the properties of this amazing material shine in the Zmeyka chetki. The thick beads are varied enough to really give depth to the amber colour, and their size is perfectly suited to the light weight of the ultem material.
The amber ultem Zmeykas are available in both polished and sandblasted finishes. The polished finish has striking good looks and that extra grip factor provided by smoothly polished materials, while the sandblasted finish is velvety smooth and has a softer, more understated appearance. Both play brilliantly and will be a terrific addition to any chetki collection.
White Delrin
The delrin model is slightly heavier in contrast to the acrylic, and has that characteristic “warm and waxy” feel that a lot of folks love about delrin. The white is perennially fresh and clean looking (or ready for your RIT Dyemore if that’s how you wanna roll), and unlike most of our delrin products, these guys feature a lustrous polished finish which is easy on the eyes, but more importantly, it provides just that little extra bit of grip to keep the set on your fingers during play.
Clear Acrylic
The polished finish on the acrylic beads further facilitates grip, and the clear material looks terrific during play. These beads are produced through additive manufacturing (3D printed), and then finished and polished to ensure proper bore construction and good looks. Note that, due to the manufacturing method, small lines, holes, and/ or ripples may be visible on the beads.

This was my first Chetki purchase and liked it so much I bought a few more. The polished black Ultem material feels great in the hands and has a nice grip to help with tricks and slings. Thanks for making such awesome stuff, AO2!
I love these so much! I’m slinging the clear acrylic with two extra beads—I like my chetki a little longer—but since you don’t have accent packs for the Zmeyka I’m using two aluminum Remeshok beads at the ends because I wildly prefer a little more weight on either side!! If you ever come out with metal accent beads for these they’d be PERFECT. The rounded shape is so glorious and curls around the fingers nicely. A beautiful object. (Incidentally, have you ever considered making Bakelite chetki??)
I audibly grasped a little when the sandblasted ultem fell into my hands. I'm shocked by how nice the sandblasted ultem feels and the different experience slinging it compared to the pozvonok chetki. Like all Aroundsquare products, I look forward to cherishing them forever!
I'd say this design is the closest to traditional sets in the AO2 Chetki product lineup. The curvature of the beads provides wonderful articulation and movement, whilst the thick paddles give a good anchoring point. I got the acrylic which I strung up with glow microcord, but I would love to see more delrin, swirled acrylic and maybe wood options in future.
Great product as always
