Sun Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, is powerful, playful, and mischievous - a truly iconic figure from the 16th-century Chinese classic Journey to the West. Aroundsquare has long felt a kinship with Wukong, and the character has been part of our lore since the original Wukong begleri debuted in 2016.
Aroundsquare has always embraced a refined minimalism and bold geometry. With the Wukong figuring, we are introducing a new extension of this design aesthetic. Taking inspiration from brutalist architecture, art deco, cubism, and our old favourite, the Bauhaus, we have aimed to come up with a fresh style of character design - one that will be distinctive and recognizably Aroundsquare. The result is a bold, modern interpretation of Sun Wukong - geometric yet dynamic, and designed to stand out as both a collectible and a work of art. This is a 100% original Aroundsquare design, with limited availability.
