Sigma Begleri - Titanium Editions

The Sigmas represent the continued evolution of Aroundsquare's begleri range, and the design underscores just how much subtle differences and refinements can affect the feel and play of a set. The Sigmas feature a generously rounded edges, which makes them extremely comfortable to play, and somewhat springy like the Micro Boss, while retaining enough of a "shelf" at the top of the bead stack to make them easy to manipulate. They are very light, and suitable for extended use, but because of the oblong shape, they carry momentum like a heavier set, and feel heavier than the weight would suggest.

Details:

  • Bead weight: 3.8g
  • Set weight: ~16.9g including cord
  • Size:9mm*12.5mm with 4mm bore
  • Available in a wide range of colours and finishes
  • Natty: machine finished; sand blasted; tumbled; shinobi (black PVD); sunset (multicolour fade PVD); business class (golden PVD); blue (anodized); peacock (bluegreen PVD); and various combinations

Back Story

The Sigmas started off with a simple question.. was there space between the much much loved cult favourite titanium Micro Bosses and our all-time best selling Mini Hydras for a set that combined the best features of both. Those two sets were my own personal favourites, and I approached our friend and longtime community member Mitch @musclebones to see what he thought, knowing that he also favoured those two designs. He was as enthusiastic as I was about the idea, and I was fortunate to benefit from his input and feedback as I nailed down the design specs, and ran through prototype testing. The initial question that launched this project will ultimately be decided by the community, but they've got a permanent place in my own daily gear check.

Awesome

Ti Sigmas were the first "official" bead I got from AO2 in 2021/2022. They hold a special place in my heart for that reason, but the performance is why they have stayed in my top 5. The Sigmas were definitely my favorite bead when I started out, and they became almost a "baseline" for me. They always feel great to sling, and the shape is comfortable. The elongated shape helps for certain tricks, but is not so long that it feels like it gets in the way a lot. The slightly rounded, but somewhat flat, shape of the tops allows for the beads to sit on the grips securely, but the roundness means they won't get caught up as much as completely flat tops - like the Hydras. The diameter of the bead is fairly narrow, but not so much that the beads feel small. Overall, just a solid set where I know exactly what to expect when I pick it up.

Sigmas

I think that they are amazing but a bit too light. Adding a small Deleon sigma might solve it but 3 beads is a lot.

Beautiful and light.

I wish more sets had a peacock color.

Long shipping wait

The shipping used by this company seems to take longer to deliver to the states than the Pony Express in the 1800’s. Good grief
