Pozvonok Chetki - Full-Wood Editions

The Pozvonoks were Aroundsquare's first chetki design, and remain a favourite for their articulated structure, fluid movement, and remarkably versatile handling characteristics. These new all-wood editions revisit an idea explored during the earliest development of the Pozvonoks: using graduated spherical beads to create a tapered profile, with a distinctive distribution of weight and an lively sensation in the hand. Made entirely from ebony or green sandalwood beads, the sets incorporate 6mm, 10mm, 12mm, and 15mm spheres in a carefully arranged configuration. The larger internal beads and smaller outer beads produce a subtle rolling action during play, while the larger end beads provide additional weight and security during grip transitions.

The result is a wonderfully lively, lightweight set of chetki. The beads move and roll slightly against the fingers, giving the arrangement an almost organic feeling as the set flips through the hand. The weight is substantial enough to provide satisfying feedback and momentum, without the harsh impact that can come from heavier metal configurations. These editions have a somewhat different character from the original Pozvonoks, trading a little of the original’s firmer grip for a more fluid sensation, making them especially enjoyable for casual manipulation and exploratory play.
