Large Brass Wukong Figurine - Forced Patina
Behold the Monkey King. Our first Aroundsquare-hosted auction features one of our initial samples for our Sun Wukong figurines. These first trial attempts were created through lost wax moulding, and while we were very excited about them, the quality was just too variable. This was the single best sample we received, and while there are small grinding marks from hand finishing, and small pits in some sections of the surface, they are substantially masked by the forced patina, and overall they work very nicely with the brutalist design of the sculpture. Compared to our small stainless steel Wukong figurine, this larger variant brings an undeniable presence, nearly 50% larger than the smaller model. This brass version has received a forced patina treatment, giving it a variable dark brown colour, and a distinctively bold, sculptural look. It is one of a kind, and a genuine piece of art.
