Holdfast Paper Clips - Standard Metal Editions

The Holdfast is Aroundsquare’s contribution to the paperclip market: oversized, overbuilt, and made from the same metals we use throughout the AO2 lineup. The design grew out of a long-running interest in money clips, and a frustration with the way conventional folded clips tend to stretch out and lose their grip over time. The humble paperclip solves that problem elegantly. if it gets pushed too far in one direction, it can simply be flipped over and worked back the other way.

The Holdfast itself is a substantial little thing: strong, resilient, nicely rounded, and robust enough to feel more like a piece of hardware than an office supply. Each carries a small, deliberately discreet Aroundsquare word mark. The Holdfast works nicely as a money clip and is, obviously, an extremely overqualified paperclip: good for index cards, notes, receipts, or that ever-growing stack of unpaid parking tickets. It can also serve as a simple miniature carabiner: put your keys on a normal split ring and the Holdfast can clip onto a belt loop, bag, lanyard, or wherever else makes sense.

The Holdfast is available in titanium, stainless steel, brass, and copper, each material bringing its own combination of weight, spring, and surface character.

NOTE: These are quite stiff by design—they should be treated as a power tool. They will bend and crease what they are holding, and if you’re not careful, they can even tear paper. The stainless steel is particularly strong, and the spring is very firm. For paper currency (especially older or more delicate bills), or for any important papers, it is important to prime them by flexing the clip open a little before putting it into service. With use, it becomes easier to slide on and off, while retaining plenty of holding power.
