Deadeye - Larges Exotic Editions

Aroundsquare’s Deadeyes are part skill toy, part worry stone, part mind control device. Roll them between your fingers, or press use your thumb into the smooth contour and breath deep to dissolve the stresses of daily life.

These contact coins are designed to be handled and manipulated. On the surface, the Deadeyes look like just a refined worry stone made from metal, and they certainly serve well for that. They are precisely crafted and beautifully finished, with an ergonomic indent on either side that is perfect for thumbs of any size. But as you’d expect from AO2, there’s more to it than that. The concave shape and resulting ridge around the perimeter make the Deadeyes perfect for contact-style manipulation. With practice, they can be made to roll fluidly between the fingers, or back and forth over the thumbs, and isolations can be performed where the coins appear to be floating around the fingertips.

Our MokuTi Edition

This incredible edition is precision machined from a solid billet of MokuTi. The material is forged from folded layers of different titanium grades, then precision machined, polished, and torched to create eye-popping colour patterns.

Each piece is quite unique, with its own grain patterns and colour differences. All pieces range from deep purple to blue to grey, and include lighter orange/ gold striping. The photos provided are all unedited, and shot with bright indoor lighting, to give a true depiction of what you’ll be getting. The pieces depicted are quite representative of the range. To accommodate preferences, we have sorted these into pieces that have more of a blue colour range, and those that have more purple. Note that all pieces have a blending of blue and purple, and often, one side is a slightly different colour than the other, so please understand that colour preferences can't be strictly accommodated.. (but you know us, we'll do our best for ya).

The mokuti Deadeyes are only available polished at this time, as this finish maximizes the colour saturation when torched. The polished surface has more grip than sand blasted titanium, which helps with preventing drops with these precious pieces. The finish is durable in normal use, but will eventually show scratches and may fade through repeated contact with other pocket items etc. However, one of the beautiful aspects of this material is that it can be re-finished innumerable times, giving slightly different colours and contrasts each time.

This elegant Deadeye edition may not be for everyone due to its price point, but for those who know what they're getting into, you're bound to cherish this piece. The weight is very similar to the regular titanium model - right around 23.5g (with slight variation due to the blending of layers in the billet).

 Product details:

  • Precision machined from solid MokuTi
  • Polished and torched
  • Specs:
    • Large: 37mm diameter/ 23.5g

Our ZircuTi Edition

NOTE: Our current batch of zircuti Deadeyes includes a variety of grain patterns and finish colours. Some of these beauties are unlike anything we've offered before. Please see photos and make your selections accordingly.

This incredible edition is precision machined from a solid billet of ZircuTi. The material is forged from folded layers of titanium and zirconium, then precision machined, polished, and torched to create eye-popping colour patterns.

Each piece is quite unique, with its own grain patterns and colour differences. The bright colours of the torched titanium contrast with the dark zirc tones to create something truly special. The photos provided are all unedited, and shot with bright indoor lighting, to give a true depiction of what you’ll be getting.

We're offering the zircuti Deadeyes in two beautiful styles: bold grained, and fine grained. The bold grained pieces show much more of a distinct contrast, visible even from a distance. The fine grained pieces have more intricate and varied patterns, which are less apparent from a distance but are far more complex up close.

The zircuti Deadeyes are only available polished at this time, as this finish maximizes the colour saturation when torched.

  • Precision machined from solid zircuti
  • Polished and torched
  • Specs:
    • Large: 37mm diameter/ 27.5g

Damascus "Wackmascus" Edition

This unique edition of our exotic materials range has a very distinct appearance, and a unique manufacturing process. The coins are machined from a solid billet of damascus steel. What makes these coins unique in our offerings, however, is the the striking criss-crossing pattern showing on the surface. This basket weave grain pattern is an illusion, or one could say, a construction. The grains of the damascus material are continuous throughout the interior of each coin. The surprising surface effect has been created by laser etching a grain pattern through the top layer of the material, and then acid etching through the exposed surfaces to expose the true grain pattern beneath. The result is undeniably beautiful, and truly distinctive. It's not something we would have ever thought to ask for, but when we saw them, we simply could not say no to them.

The surface of the coins is highly textured, consistent with our previous "deep etched" version. The grains are cut deep, but then polished to a beautiful finish, which takes off the sharp edges while retaining a very satisfying texture.

Product details:

  • Precision machined from solid DamaSteel
  • Laser etched, then acid etched, and polished to perfection
  • Specs:
    • Large: 37mm diameter/ 41-42g

General information on previous DamaSteel Editions

These beautiful editions of our Deadeye coins are precision machined from a solid billet of Damascus Steel, AKA DamaSteel. The material is forged from folded layers of different steel grades, then precision machined, etched, and polished to accentuate the grain patterns.

Each piece is distinct, with its own grain patterns. This edition is available in a deep etched version, and a shallow etched version. Both look very similar, with beautiful grain contrast, but the deep etched version is much more textured than the shallow. They have both been nicely polished, and there are no sharp edges, but the deep etched pieces are indeed noticeably textured, and will feel a bit rough if you're pressing your thumb against the grains. The photos provided are all unedited, and shot with bright indoor lighting, to give a true depiction of what you’ll be getting. The pieces depicted are quite representative of the range.

This elegant Deadeye edition may not be for everyone due to its price point, but for those who know what they're getting into, you're bound to cherish these pieces. The weight is very similar to the stainless steel models - right around 41-42g (with slight variation due to the blending of layers in the billet).

Our Zirconium Edition

This beautiful zirconium model is precision machined from solid zirconium, and then polished and torched to a gorgeous finish. This elegant coin may not be for everyone due to its price, but for those who know what they're getting into, you're bound to cherish this piece, and to appreciate it even more over time. The weight of the zirc Deadeyes is is around 35g per piece, which puts it between the weight of the titanium and stainless steel models.

Product details:

  • Precision machined from solid Zirconium
  • Polished and torched for a smooth blackened finish
  • Specs:
    • Large: 37mm diameter/ 35g

Our Mokume Gane Edition

This beautiful edition is precision machined from a solid billet of mokume gane. This unique material is made from fusing together layers of metals, and working the billet into a patterned material that almost resembles wood grain. When machined to our specifications, the grains of the material become exposed in a way that accentuates the appearance of the curves, creating a beautiful pattern.

This elegant Deadeye may not be for everyone due to its weight and price point, but for those who know what they're getting into, you're bound to cherish this piece, and to appreciate it even more as the metals begin to patina and the grains pop. The weight of the mokume gane deadeyes is similar to the existing brass model, around 45g per piece, giving it a substantial feel in the hand, and plenty of weight for practicing isolations.

 Product details:

  • Precision machined from mokume gane
  • Polished
  • Specs:
    • Large: 37mm diameter/ around 45g

All Deadeyes are packaged in a box, and ship with Aroundsquare stickers.
