Deadeye Doubloons - Wood Editions
Aroundsquare’s Deadeyes are part skill toy, part worry stone, part mind control device. Roll them between your fingers, or press use your thumb into the smooth contour and breath deep to dissolve the stresses of daily life.
The Doubloons are the latest evolution in our Deadeye lineup, inspired by the chunky contours of Donut Hollows but refined with a concave centre, reminiscent of the original Deadeyes. The result is a bold, satisfying shape that feels terrific in the hand and works beautifully as both a skill toy and a deep-dish worry coin.
Our wood edition Doubloons are very lightweight with a raw machine finish. Compared to their metal counterparts, the reduced weight makes some manipulations easier, while others, such as isolations, become more challenging - similar to the differences seen in our Knucklebones range.
The coins are lightly sanded but left unpolished and uncoated, giving them a natural feel in the hand. This makes them perfect as worry coins for those who enjoy that sensory input. With this finish, you may notice subtle concentric machining lines in the concave face, especially near the center, as well as a small dot where the lathe made contact. These are natural and expected characteristics of this finish and contribute to the overall experience. If you prefer a flawlessly smooth, glossy contour, we recommend one of our polished metal Deadeyes instead.
The wooden Doubloons are available in zebrano, purpleheart, maple, green sandalwood, and ebony. The ebony and green sandalwood have naturally smoother grain patterns, while zebrano, purpleheart, and maple showcase a more organic, textured character.

This is my first and only deadeye so far so I can’t compare it to anything and I’m still brand new to skill toys so I can’t speak to how easy it is to do the different kinds of tricks. BUT I adore my little purpleheart dubloon. I bounce back and forth between this and a knucklebone. Both are unbelievably satisfying and have really changed the game for me in terms of my ability to focus during meetings and one-sided conversations.. The purpleheart does have some texture to it and I took a nail polishing block to it to smooth it out some. I will definitely be trying at least one of the other woods and some of the other materials.
The sandblasted titanium doubloon has quickly become one of my favorite Aroundsquare products, so I had to get this one. I was a little concerned about the lighter weight but all the manipulations I do on the titanium doubloon are still possible on these, it's just harder to roll the coin over your knuckles since they're so light, and isolations are harder too as a result of that. But what you give up in stability for those moves you make up with the warm texture of the wood as a worry coin, and a nice light weight for inside/outside rolls - they're easier to do because your fingers don't have to grip as hard to prevent the coin from dropping. I got mine in green sandalwood and the smell of it is the cherry on top - always leaves my fingers smelling nice afterwards. Now I regret not going for the other woods as well!
