Aroundsquare's mala beads are our take on the classic, wearable bead sets used around the world to focus the mind and steady the nerves. Our 17mm malas are the largest we've ever created, and they make a huge statement. These beads have a super substantial feel in the hand, and the weight is very satisfying--especially in the heavier materials.

These mala sets come strung up with snake knots at a fixed length. Spare cord is included in case you wish to restring them with an adjustable double or triple overhand knot, which may be necessary for those of you with bigger hands if you want to wear them. They make a massive statement on the wrist, but their main gig is likely to be in the hand, for bead counting, breath work, and simple contemplative relaxation. 

These sets are uniquely strung on our custom made 2mm high density Kevlar cord. Each set consists of 13 x 17mm beads, with an exotic 11.8mm "Boss" or guru bead, and four matching 8mm beads on the tassels. 

While the smaller and lighter sets have their place, there is something really unique about having a set of large beads like this, hefty in the hand, and designed specifically for breath work, bead counting, and meditation. It's a little bit hard to articulate, but the fact that these sets are decidedly NOT for flipping, somehow moves them into a different category of thing, and encourages us to slow down and work more on the things they are designed for.

Zirconium Exotic Edition

The Zirconium Edition of our 17mm malas gives the impression of profound depth. Their dark metallic polish gives off a quiet intensity, clean, refined, and undeniably bold. At this size, the heft of the zirconium beads are unmatched by any of our other setups in the material, delivering a deeply grounded weight in the hand. The polished surface of the set embodies a minimalist luxury, unapologetically heavy, and built for those who appreciate the raw, elemental beauty of solid metal.

Zircuti Exotic Edition

The elegant Zircuti material is forged from folded layers of titanium and zirconium, then precision machined, polished, and torched to create eye-popping colour patterns, reminiscent of wood grain. In contrast to the zirconium, its fine-grained surface adds depth and a mesmerizing liquid feel as it glints under the light. Paired with the imposing 17mm size, this set makes a very bold statement, and makes its presence constantly felt.

Ultem Edition

The stunning Ultem edition of our 17mm mala  is crafted from a rich dark amber Ultem and offered in your choice of polished or sandblasted finish. The polished version delivers the slick grip you’d expect, while the blasted finish offers a soft, velvety feel. Two notes: (1) the polished beads are finished only on the exterior, leaving the inner bore unpolished and visible through the transparent material; (2) the blasted finish is lightly pre-polished to minimize machining lines, though faint traces may still remain. Both finishes provide an excellent tactile experience and make a striking statement when worn or carried. Each set is strung on our custom 2mm Kevlar cord, finished with titanium accent beads and an adjustable triple overhand knot for easy tightening or loosening.

The Green Sandalwood Edition

For those who have liked the idea of the 17mm beads in our other sets, but stayed away from the ebony and metal editions because they seemed like just a little "too much" on the wrist, you may find the green sandalwood beads to be a little more low key and the perfect fit for you. The beachy fragrance is another terrific bonus feature of green sandalwood, in addition to its green-hued good looks, and funky grain variations.
