Mini Hydras - SS/ Delrin
Mini Hydra Begleri
Aroundsquare's Hydra Begleri are a fun yet highly capable modern adaptation of the traditional Greek multi-bead begleri. The Mini Hydra design has been praised by elite players as one of the best begleri sets available. There is something special about the size, shape, weight, and multi-bead configuration that makes the Mini Hydras a favourite that players keep coming back to. The Mini Hydras are a slightly down-sized version of the original Hydra beads, 14mm in diameter, and 7mm tall each. They are drilled to accommodate 550 paracord, with an exposed knot.
Our Stainless Steel/ Delrin Edition
The pairing of delrin and stainless steel in the Mini Hydras was first introduced in 2018, and allows the player to change the weight distribution of the set to suit their preference for top-heavy play (which makes the beads more nimble, and makes the set play "lighter), or bottom heavy play (which makes the set feel more stable, and swing with more momentum). Our new 2020 SS/D Mini Hydras feature the same materials, but now with six colours of delrin material available, and featuring an AROUNDSQUARE wordmark, laser etched on one of the SS beads. The sets are available in six different single colour packs (2 delrin, 2 SS), and a mixed pack of eight beads (2 SS, and 6 delrin--one of each colour).
Details:
- 9g per end, with a two-stack setup/ four bead set (SS Mini Hydra beads 7.6g each; delrin Mini Hydra beads 1.4g each)
- Available in six colours (4-bead set), or an 8 bead multipack
- 14mm diameter, with a thickness of 7mm per bead
- Laser etched AROUNDSQUARE wordmark on one of the SS beads
The Hydras are extremely playable, and despite their cylindrical shape, are surprisingly nimble. They are less solid and therefore slightly quieter than heavier single-bead designs, and the multiple beads add a nice "fiddle factor" to each set. The rounding of all edges on the beads adds to the comfort and overall feel.
Please note that items included in the package (strings, stickers, patches, bags etc.) vary in colour and quantity depending on availability.
